FAMILY PET CLASSES at DTCCC
All our family pet classes are open to the public and taught
by experienced, professionally
certified instructors utilizing positive, science-based method of
training that makes it easy and
fun for both dog and owner alike. Wherever your interests lie, we
have a training program that
will fit your needs.
Dates listed below are the starting dates for individual six
week sessions.
Your class will meet the same day and time each week. All family
members are welcome to
attend.

Kindergarten
Puppy Training & Socialization (KPT)
For young puppies ages 10 to 16 weeks at start of session.
Six Week Session- class meets for one hour, once a week.
Fee: $130
The most critical time for your puppy's social development
occurs before 5 months of age! KPT will help you get your young
puppy off to the right start.
This class will help develop the confidence and social skills needed
for your puppy to become a well adjusted adult. With our positive
and gentle approach to training, we will show you ways to socialize
your puppy and provide you with methods to manage normal puppy behavior
and prevent problems. You and your puppy will be introduced to positive
reinforcement methods and how to start training:
- Name and Attention
- Sit
- Down
- Come
- Leash Walking
- Polite Meeting and Greeting
ALSO: Using games and supervised play sessions your puppy will
meet and interact with people and other puppies. Puppys will
gain social confidence and physical coordination on our puppy sized
agility obstacles! We'll answer all your questions about house training,
biting and chewing, crate training, handling and grooming, socialization,
nutrition, proper play techniques, and so much more! KPT graduates

Training For Kids
4 week session.
Class meets for one hour, once a week. Fee $90
Is your child interested in training the family dog? This 4 week
summer session is just for them. Exercises will include the basics:
sit, down, wait, come when called, walking on leash, plus fun training
games, tricks, and dog and kid safety all taught using positive
methods.
Requirements: All dogs must be dog & people friendly.
Dogs should be size appropriate for handler.
Children 12 years and older, younger handlers considered with prior
approval. Adult guardian must accompany child in class.

Basic Manners - Level 1
All ages - For any dog 5 months of age or older with no prior
formal training.
Six Week Session- class meets for one hour, once a week.
Fee: $155. $135 (with coupon) for DTCCC Kindergarten Puppy Training
grads.
An introduction to the basic manners and self control every dog
needs to know. Learn the fundamentals of positive reinforcement
training techniques and effective canine communication to teach
your dog:

- Polite Meeting and Greeting
- Leave it
- Give and Take It
- Release
ALSO: Learn how to prevent or eliminate undesirable behaviors
such as jumping up, inappropriate chewing, stealing, and more. We
will help you understand how dogs learn best so your training time
is most effective. The goal is building a cooperative and trusting
relationship with your dog that will last a lifetime. Level 1

1
For older puppies (or KPT grads) ages 17 weeks to 8 months at
the start of the session.

and young adolescent dogs. The class will include some work on socialization,
accepting handling, and meeting other people and dogs. Learn the

with his classmates? If so, this is the class for you. Designed
for toy and small breed dogs. Taught in a safe and comfortable environment,
behaviors include:

- Sit for Petting
Other topics covered: Small Dog Safety, Barking, Grooming and Handling,

Beyond Basics - Level 2
Prerequisites: Basic Manners Level 1, Basics for Puppies Level

Or equivalent training through another organization.
Six Week Session- class meets for one hour, once a week.
Fee: $155. $135 (with coupon) for DTCCC Level 1 graduates.
Level 2 builds on the foundation exercises begun in Level 1. Learn
how to improve your dogs responsiveness, reliability and duration
among increasing distractions. More self control is emphasized along
with building your dogs confidence. Continue to improve:

- Come when Called
- Stay
- Polite meeting/greeting people and greeting other dogs.
New skills and exercises for dog and handler include:

ENTRY LEVEL 3 classes
Prerequisites: Beyond Basics Level 2, or equivalent.
Enrollment of students from other programs will be contingent on
a training level assessment by a DTCCC instructor.
Six Week Session- class meets for one hour, once a week.
Fee: $135 or DTCCC Training Membership.
Recommended for those interested in pursuing the Canine Good Citizen
and Therapy Dog certifications, or other dog sports such as Agility,
Flyball, and Rally Obedience. These classes focus on building on
higher level of handling skills and training for your dog's better
manners, reliability and confidence. You will continue to improve
and add to your own training skills as you help your dog problem
solve and learn new skills. Fun and challenging! For detailed class

Class availability and schedule is subject
to change or cancellation if minimum enrollment is not met.
Class size is limited to eight dog and
handler teams per class. Family members are welcome to
attend and observe the class.
Classes meet for one hour once a week,
for six consecutive weeks. However, there may be breaks for holidays,
weather cancellations, or other events.
How To Enroll:Choose your first
choice class starting date from the SCHEDULE list. Indicate a second
choice on your application. Classes fill early, return your completed
application by mail as soon as possible. A place in class will be
reserved only when the signed application, profile and vaccination
record is received with payment. We cannot reserve a space in the
class over the phone, fax, or email. Children over 12 are permitted
to train, but an adult guardian must be present at all classes.
Class Location: All classes
are held indoors at our training center in the Whiteland Business
Park, 880
Springdale Drive, Suite 100, Exton, PA 19341. Class observers are
always welcome, but please leave your dog or puppy at home.
Class Confirmation:
Directions to the club and other helpful information will
be included with a class
confirmation letter which will be emailed or mailed to you at least
one week prior to the first class. You must be registered and have
received confirmation to attend the class. Call 610-383-1979 if
you have not received your confirmation notice. Drop in attendance
is accepted only in Show Handling classes.
Refund Policy: A full refund
will be issued if notice of cancellation is received by the Information
Secretary at least 7 days prior to the start of the first class.
Cancellations received less than 7 days prior to the start of the
first class will be refunded all but $25. No refunds will be issued
after the start of the first class. In cases of unusual circumstances
credits may be issued. Contact your instructor or email enroll@dtccc.org.
