Nancy Schilling, CPDT-KA

I have been an instructor at DTCCC since 2007. I am a professional member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers, associate member of the Pet Professional Guild, and a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA). Over the years, I have participated in many training seminars and workshops including Suzanne Clothier, Ian Dunbar, Nicholas Dodman, Kathy Sdao, Sue Sternberg, Ken Ramirez, Susan G. Freidman, Patricia McConnell, Pia Silvani, Denise Fenzi, and others.
I am particularly proud of my successful completion of all five of Bob Bailey and Parvene Farhoody’s 40 hour, week long, Operant Conditioning Workshops (aka Chicken Workshops): Discrimination (2013), Cueing (2014), Criteria (2014), Chaining (2015) and Teaching (2015). These workshops have had a profound effect on my skills and understanding of training and instructing.
I am a charter member and the Competition Committee Chair of the National Association of Treibball Enthusiasts (NATE) which is a new organization promoting training and competition for the sport of Treibball.
To date, all my dogs have come from rescues. With my dogs I have trained, competed and titled in many canine sports including Rally-O, Treibball, Nosework, Tricks, and Agility.
In NoseWork, my Carolina Dog, Hannah, earned her NW1 Title along with the special Harry Award given to the most outstanding rescue dog that demonstrates extraordinary ability and spirit in nose work at the NW1 level. In May 2015, she earned her NW2 title and was First Place, High in Trial, overall.
Agility is my greatest passion and I have trained, competed and titled with all of my dogs. With my Border Collie, Zuzu, I have been able to take my agility training and competing to a higher level and am having the most fun ever with it. Zuzu and I have competed in CPE, AKC, USDAA and UKI. We attended the AKC Nationals in Harrisburg, PA in March 2014 and had a blast. We qualified for the AKC Nationals, 2015, and Cynosport (USDAA Nationals), 2015. Zuzu earned her MACH (AKC) in July 2014 and her ADCH (USDAA) in September 2105. She is close to earning her MACH 2.
Zuzu and I take weekly lessons with Barb DeMascio, Sandi Shilling-Daniels, and Rosanne DeMascio. I have also been very fortunate to attend many agility training workshops with some of the best handlers/trainers in the world including Mary Ellen Barry, Jen Pinder, Rachel Sanders, Stuart Mah, Jessica Ajoux, Anna Eifert, Janita Leninon and Jaakko Soukinotti (One Mind Dogs), Rosanne DeMascio, Anthony Clarke, and others. I love attending agility workshops and, as with all my training, I enjoy being able to share what I learn with my students.
