Nancy Schilling, CPDT

My journey into and ultimate love of dog training began the same way it does for many people; with the decision to get a family pet and my first dog training class. I was hooked.

In 2006, after a few years of training elsewhere, I joined DTCCC and was then asked to be an assistant trainer. For over a year I assisted and was mentored by many of the wonderful trainers at DTCCC. I have read and continue to read extensively anything on the subject of dog training and behavior as well as attending workshops and seminars with Ian Dunbar, Nicholas Dodman, Kathy Sdao, Brenda Aloff, Sue Sternberg, Patricia McConnell, Leslie Nelson and others. I am a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers and have taken and passed the CPDT (Certified Professional Pet Dog Trainer) exam.

I feel very privileged to be a part of DTCCC’s team of instructors. I love being able to share what I have learned over the years with dog owners, helping them to train their dogs and develop a cooperative and loving relationship with their pets. I am committed to promoting the benefits of positive training methods.

I currently live with two dogs; both are rescues. Max, an ESS/Australian Shepherd mix, has earned his CGC title, and trains and competes in agility and Rally-O. Hannah, a Carolina Dog, is an extremely fearful dog I adopted after fostering her for a local rescue. Her training is a lot of work but I am proud to say that she has successfully completed many classes at DTCCC and trains and competes in agility and Rally-O. Both of my dogs are excellent “human trainers” and have taught me much.

I also share my life with my husband, son, and daughter. I feel most fortunate to say they are very supportive of me as I pursue my dog training endeavors.

The journey continues....
